Would you know a diamond

“You wouldn’t know a diamond if you held it in your hand…” -- Steely Dan

Would you know a diamond if you held it in your hand? The better way to ask this question is ‘would you know a great idea if it were presented to you?’

I believe all of us have a million-dollar invention or book or business idea in our heads or presented to us at least once in our lives but we often miss it. Some of us have hundreds of million-dollar ideas presented to us in our lifetimes.

Is there a way to practice seeing diamonds?

Is there a diamond you are overlooking right now?

Lost from inaction

“ More money has been lost from inaction than from wrong action.”

This is so true. You can recover from bad action, but those who do nothing take the biggest risk…

What is the project you have always wanted to do? Why not try to get it done this month?

What is the long-range plan you need to work on? Can be it done this year?

Is there someone you need to love more?

The world is waiting….

Try teaching it to someone else !

“When one teaches… two learn.” Robert Half

It has been said for a long time, if you want to learn something thoroughly try teaching it to someone else. I have found this to be so true. Every time I teach I learn far more than any of my students.

This happens for several reasons…

1. You must learn the subject from beginning to end from history to future possibilities.
2. You must put complex ideas into simple language for others to learn.
3. You must organize your subject.
4. You must repeat the material several times…

Find something you want to learn and try teaching it to a novice. If you have a loving spouse they may be willing to listen to you teach your new subject. Believe me I have a very loving wife.
