Today I begin a new life.

Og Mandino wrote a huge selling book entitled, “The Greatest Salesman in the World.” In it he describes 10 principles for becoming a great person, spouse or worker. The first of these principles states, “I will make and keep commitments.”

When I am coaching people, one of the first things we cover is how to set yourself apart from others. One way is to do what you say you are going to do. If you say you are going to be somewhere, be there. If you say you are going to be somewhere on time, be there at that time. If you cannot arrive to a meeting on time, you cannot complete a project on time. If you cannot complete a project on time, we cannot trust you with leadership and other activities.

Making and keeping commitments is the first and best way to be respected, be professional and set yourself apart from other people.
